SpongeBob SquarePants – Costume Tour

In February, 2015, Paramount Animation saw it’s first feature film released to great success;  The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. C&C Communications was very proud to have played a part in the advance promotion of SpongeBob, having been tasked with two big pre-release campaigns.

Campaign #1 landed on the first Monday in January, traditionally a day dreaded by children and parents alike. Paramount re-branded January 5th as the Day of Positivity, inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants‘ best attribute. C&C worked together with Vancouver Television to produce a fitness event with Richmond Martial Arts where kids and parents alike came together to have fun and get motivated through positivity. Upbeat music was provided by The Unified, inspirational talks were given by professional BC Lions football play Manny Arceneaux and the recently crowned Ms. & Mr. Vancouver, and children of all ages participated in fitness demonstrations. The event was a huge success and received great coverage on social media and local cable providers SHAW TV, Novus TV and Telus TV. This event helped begin the buzz and anticipation for The SpongeBob Movie one month ahead of its release.

Vancouver was also selected as the first location in North America to kick off campaign #2, an extensive costume tour to reveal the new “Superhero SpongeBob” character. C&C coordinated and executed a 5 day visit for the SpongeBob SquarePants character, visiting multiple family friendly and popular locations throughout the lower mainland resulting in extensive media coverage and raising the awareness level for the upcoming movie. Outlets that covered and participated in the visit included CITY TV, Vancouver Television, Fairchild Television, 103.5 QMFM, The Beat 94.5 FM, AM 1470, FM 96.1, The Vancouver Sun, The Georgia Straight, Miss 604 and CBC.ca among others.

Both campaigns, ahead of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water‘s theatrical release, were hugely successful and we couldn’t have been more proud to contribute to the overall success of Paramount Animation’s first animated feature film.
